The KU Memory and Development Lab (KU MADlab) is directed by Dr. Andrea Greenhoot of the Department of Psychology at the University of Kansas. We conduct research on how memory and cognitive development in children, adolescents and adults. Some of our work looks at how children and adults come to remember both good and bad past experiences, and how these memories are related to emotional well-being. We are particularly interested in the ways in which people cope with and make sense of memories of highly negative experiences, such as abuse or family violence, because these types of experiences can have serious implications for mental health. We are also conducting research on the implications of memory and cognitive development for teaching and learning.
